Dario Garcia - 2022 La Leona

About the luthier

Dario García is the son of Antonio J. García, who learned guitar making from two influential Granada luthiers, Paco Santiago Marín and Rolf Eichinger. The character of the Granada school can be felt in Dario García’s work, while each instrument also reflects his own approach to construction, material selection, and detail. His workshop produces both classical and flamenco guitars, generally shaped by a Spanish tradition rooted in the twentieth century.

About the guitar

This 2022 La Leona model by Dario García is inspired by Antonio de Torres’ historic FE04, known as La Leona, made in 1856. It follows several defining features associated with the original concept, including a spruce soundboard, cypress back and sides, a La Leona style bridge, and a tornavoz inside the body. The French polish finish supports the traditional character of the instrument, while the flamenco style headstock is fitted with geared pegs that preserve the visual language of wooden pegs with greater tuning practicality.

Light in the hands and direct in response, this guitar offers a distinctly Spanish voice with deep basses and singing trebles. Its responsiveness gives the player room to shape colour, articulation, and dynamic direction with flexibility, while the cypress body and Torres inspired construction lend the instrument an immediate, resonant, and characterful presence.

Condition

This guitar is in excellent condition, with normal wear and no cracks. The French polish is in great condition.
